DesignMint vs ImprintNext: two ways to sell custom apparel

Both give print shops a product designer and a way to sell it. ImprintNext plugs into the store you already run; DesignMint brings its own store and prepress.

ImprintNext and DesignMint are both built for print shops and decorators, and both put a live product designer in front of the customer. The difference is what surrounds the designer.

What each one is

ImprintNext is a web-to-print product designer with a long list of store integrations — Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Wix, Squarespace and custom stores. Around it sit a 3D configurator with AR, AI suggestions for the decoration process, marketplace and fundraiser stores, and shop-floor tools: job cards, a production calendar, purchase orders, quotes and invoices.

DesignMint is a print studio with the store and the artwork pipeline attached. Commerce is a hosted storefront and backend with decoration-aware pricing, bulk size runs and reorders from My Designs. The studio enforces each technique’s print rules as the customer designs, and Prepress cleans up the artwork — upscale, background removal, vectors, separations — by API.

Where DesignMint is the stronger fit

  • You want one system for the store, the studio and the production files, instead of a plugin on top of a store you also have to run.
  • Your uploads need fixing: the Prepress API upscales, vectorizes and separates artwork before it reaches the press.
  • You need print rules — print areas in millimetres, DPI, colour limits — enforced in the editor, per technique.
  • You want to see the price first: Commerce starts at $299 a month, published.

Where ImprintNext is the stronger fit

  • You are staying on Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Wix or Squarespace and want a plugin for it.
  • You want job cards, a production calendar and purchase orders in the same tool as the designer.
  • You run multivendor marketplaces, artist stores or fundraiser stores.
  • You want AR previews on the customer’s phone.

The short answer

If your store works and you need a designer inside it, ImprintNext covers more platforms. If you are rebuilding — or your bottleneck is artwork and production files — DesignMint replaces more of the stack.
